Happened to me twice last year.....first time I tried to withdraw 3 million rupiah (approx $400 at the time) from ATM in Poppies lane circle K, spat out my card and receipt but no money. Checked on the internet and money deducted from account, rang Permata bank and was told would have to fly to head office in Jakarta and prove it!!!! Bank here did not want to know so basically lost $400. Happened again in another circle K but this time was only 1 million as I don't take out large sums anymore. This time though the machine was making noise when ready to spit money out and the young guy working there was dusting around the ATM at the time and I believe he turned the ATM powerpoint off just as the money was about to come out. I asked him to turn it back on but he said he couldn't. waited there for ages but he wouldn't let me anywhere near the machine. I went to the internet to check if the money had come out and it had. Went back and the girl in the circle K handed me my card back and said the machine had "mysteriously" come back on and returned my card but no money. I now use the Commonwealth ATM's as I have noticed that there is no powerpoint, they apeear to be concealed so that they can't be switched off, I have since noticed a lot of the Indonesian ones in the mini marts power points are easily accessible. So be very careful as this seems to be the latest scam and I lost over $500. I am very wary of using ATM's now, I didn't realise that this can happen I thought that if the power was switched off it would cancel the transaction but apparently not in Indonesia.
