I have known first timers to love it and first timers who absolutely hated it.

Some of the ones who hated it had never left Australia before and i think the whole experience from International immigration/customs to Asian smell/humidity and being approached as soon as they arrived by porters and transport touts put them on the back foot.

Some feel unsafe because they are in unfamiliarly surroundings and i have seen real tough guy types fall to pieces and go home early lol:)
This is because they are not used to having so many Asian people around then including Authority types, police etc.

Others have used their first trip to Bali as a stepping stone to the rest of Asia like many of us on here.

You may or may not have spent time reading lots of posts on this and other Bali forums,if not then i suggest you do read them and join in.

If you have read quite a lot and are still asking "Does it feel safe to walk streets at night" just ask yourself why so many single females of all ages visit Bali and cant wait to get back.

I live in Perth and quite close to "Northbridge" (Cafe/nightclub strip)and wouldn't walk the streets after 10pm alone but in Bali i feel safe enough to walk the nightclub district streets at anytime night or day.

Once you go to Bali and realize just how "cheap" and enjoyable an overseas holiday can be compared to a holiday in Australia you will be hanging around the forums and web sites looking for the cheap flights like the rest of us. :)
