As it turned out there was nothing in the paperwork on arrival in Bali so likely she would have been OK but with your friend being on parole it might be a good idea and its only a few $$ more.
To those judging this person for manslaughter - just remember you can be charged with this after say assisting a family member with euthanasia or a simple driving error that results in a car accident causing a death - so not all charges of manslaughter are the result of evil intent
