I work in the medical field but haven't heard of septicaemia being acquired through food (more often from an untreated urinary tract infection) unless the chilli crab was taken intravenously?! But, seriously, I guess it is possible if the person had torn their stomach lining (Mallory-Weiss tear) through violent vomiting or perhaps they had a pre-existing condition - maybe an ulcer - that would allow the bacteria, probably E.coli, into the blood? I think it would a rare thing and we all roll the dice a bit when we eat out (not just in Bali) but I am sure Audinary posted with all good intentions, so shouldn't cop a (shell)acking. Sorry...couldn't resist..."hospital humour". I do hope the gentleman in question recovers soon as his illness is very serious. Best wishes.
