hey guys, this is my just back report. if you dont like incorrect spelling i suggest you dont keep reading...
SO.. depart perth flying virgin at 7.25 on the 2nd dec.
flight was smooth, early and no problems getting through customs.
paid in AUD for VOA no problems and got change back in IDR
we pay 50,000IDR for a taxi to our hotel from the airport, our hotel staying at the grand istana rama.
We arrive, have a speedy check in, pay 100 AUD upfront for our depoist incase things are missing from minni bar, phone calls ect. but we got this back at the end of our stay anyway.
Hotel is gorjuz, although a huge downgrade from staying at the kartika discovery 2 years before, BUT still has everything you could need, isnt THAT close to dicovery shopping mall but is only a short stroll to poppies II which is handy.
We arrive and within of dropping our bags of we head out to paddys bar. have a few drinks, we made it there after midnight so happy hour is finished but still cheap so we pay 30,000 for a small bintang.
at this time of night/morning the club is FULL off leavers and drunks everywhere so we just sit and have a few beers then head back on a scooter to the hotel.
next day, breakfast was preety simple, eggs however you like, pancakes fruit, roast chicken, pastrys and allsorts, but still filled up my tummy for a big day ahead.
we exhanged most our money for a rate between 8700-8750 wasnt bad and this was with no commision.
nearly got ripped at a place with a rate of 9395 new it was to good to be true, these people are VERY sneaky better of going to kodak and making sure that you say before handing over your money that there isnt any commision to save hassles.
it was SO humid over there, rained at night for most nights but was hard to breath it was almost that humid.
one big thing i noticed since not being there for 2 years was the bartering, they seem to not care if your giving them not what they want. as before they would run down the street and beg you. now they just simply say ok.. and let you walk.
this is MOST of the cases however some still said ok for your asking price.
leavers at this time of year was crazy, so many drunks on the floor in the middle of the dance floor, being extremely rude to police, to shop owners, just shook my head..
it was me and 2 of my best mates that went over all girls and we too were loud and drunk but not to the point we abused people and had no respect for ourselves or anyone else.
things have gone up in price for sure, was buying tops for about 30-35,000 sometimes a lil less, food was cheap, except for flapjacks that was preety much the same as a normall icecream-pastry shop.
LOVE breadtalk, so cheap and yummy! we need one in perth!
macdonalds - getting a scooter tehre at 5AM in the morning after only getting home at 4.30 i dont know if this changed how it tasted but it was still amazing. :)
seen many aussies come off there scooters in the main street.
again... just shook my head...
but i guess they were for as good as a time as i was!
our air con broke in our room. so i went to reception and reported it. they came in checked it out and sent people to fix it. they changed a part in the aircon and said it was fixed, but it wasnt, so i went back and complained, they said stay in there for tonight and if its not fixed by tommorow we will change your room. so the next morning i went and reported it and we got changed rooms.
hotel was good and tucked out of the way. would stay here again, and for the price would stay again.
went to the melasti and got a massage one of the BEST massages ever i would have to say, so gentle and friendly. about 115,000 for an hour massage and it was SO SO SO worth it.
got a tattoo up my right thigh at balinesia tattoo for about $220AUD and it is AMAZIIIIIING. the guys are so friendly and clean in there.
going back for more definatly. i opened my own needles and was in there for about 2-1/2 hours. came out SO happy.
gave all my 2 dollar coins in change i had to the little girls on the street, and in return got my leather plated bands.. felt sorry for them and just wanted to take them to have some food but.. i couldnt.
got through ok with customs in perth with all my wood so was stoked.
bought a bottle of vodka on the way over opened it and drank about 30ml then packed it in my suitcase and got to bring it back was very very pleased.
every second person in bali seemed to be from perth.
was happy to get home and know that oncoming traffic would stay in there lane.
love bali so much but 7 days was enough.
didnt get to do activities it was more of a eat drink sleep holiday.
watched bunji jumping at the double 6 a friends cousin asked us to come and watch and i couldnt beleive my eyes!!!
children as little as 5 were jumping!
you can be set on fire and jump, jump whilst riding a motorbike...
CRAZY!
scooters for transport it SO much better then cars, we were in the car almost for an hour due to traffic getting from the discovery to out hotel when on a scooter it took like 10 minutes if that!
