Just back from spending 17 nights in Bali and 4 nights in KL.
We travelled Jetstar there. The flight was fine and going through immigration would have been fine too if the family in front of us had bought their visas. They would have been standing there for about 20 minutes. After about 10 minutes the immigration officer stood up and pointed to the area where the visas were bought but the family shake their heads and don't move. So he points again and they still don't move so eventually he walks (Bali speed) down to the visa counter and buys their visas for them. Nice for them! Annoying for us! They still spent close to 10 minutes there after he got back so I really have no idea what was going on... We finally get through and on to the Febris.
FEBRIS
The last 2 times we have stayed in Bali it was at the Peninsula Beach resort. It was great. Awesome pool, large 1 bedroom units, good food etc. So when we first arrived at Febris I was comparing it to our previous fantastic accommodaion...so I was a little disappointed. But when I stopped doing that I realised that the Febris was very good in alot of areas.
We are a family of 5 and the FAMILY ROOM was fantastic. Even though we had 4 beds it still seemed spacious with plenty of room for luggage etc. It was clean, the fridge large, the bathroom large and clean and the aircon worked well. We were on the third floor which meant we went up and down stairs all day, but the good news is that it meant I could eat more yum Bali food with all the extra calories I was burning!! But for those who still think that sounds like too much effort, the good news is they are building a lift. Not sure when it will be finished though.
The POOL was nice and cool (this is important as the next 2 places we stay at do not have cool pools!! More on that later.) It was clean and even though the pool had no shade, the sitting area around it had plenty.
The BREAKY was good, There was so much to choose from that most people should be able to find something they like. My family fell in love with the iced milo and capppucino!!
The STAFF were great. I booked direct and changed bookings etc, and through it all they were helpful and polite.
I think it was very good value, for a family of 5 it cost under $100 a night. I think I prefer staying up further but I certainly would stay there again.
HIGH-LIGHTS AND GOOD BUYS!
As we were only staying around this area for 3 nights I had alot of things I wanted to do in a short period of time. I wanted to get prescription glasses and sunglasses. My uncle told me about Optik Jaya Mandiri. I went there and got 2 pairs for 550,000Rp each. I was very happy with them and the price. For those interested it is in Gg. Melani no.3. It is the first lane on the L.H.S past Jl Melasti if you are walking south down Jl Legian. (Although, we went to KL on the way home and they have alot of Optical shops and the prices they had advertised in the front of their shops worked out to be only about $25 to $30 each. I might try Malaysian glasses next time)
Having spent alot of time reading through the forums I decided I wantd to try the BIKU HIGH TEA. I am so glad I did as it was one of the highlights of my trip. My whole family went, Hubby, daughters, C who is 16 and M who is 12 and little man who is 3. He had his own tiered plate with cakes and sandwiches and a juice. We all liked it.
WATERBOM
A family favourite!! I won't bore you with the same old stuff, but just tell you a little family tale...
Daughters C and M decide to give the Climax a go. Well it has a weight minimun. 45kgs. M is only about 43kgs but decides...near enough is good enough..NOT TRUE.
Poor M gets "talked" into going first. C is standing up the top and when M "drops" out the bottom and starts screaming (of course), but the screaming doesn't stop and M doesn't pop out of the slide at the othe end. C is thinking, wow, 'she is having a long ride', but then M suddenly yells out,' I am stuck'. So poor C starts stressing saying, ' O no, my sister' and runs back down the stairs.
M didn't have enough momentum or weight to get her up the loop so she flopped backed. This must happen occasionally as they have an opening there with stairs for you to climb down.
M is ok but just a little shaken up. We did suggest that she could try taking a few bricks and give it another go, or even drinking a few litres of water, but she decides to just wait until she goes another time and has gained that extra weight! (I must say I wish I had the problem where I couldn't go on a ride as I didn't weigh enough. No such luck I am afraid!)
Well that is enough for now. I will post number 2 later for those interested. Thanks for reading.
