Have been to KL several times and I love the Bukit Bintang area - the shopping is amazing, you can walk to most of the really nice malls, and close to the monorail to get you to Chinatown (so worth going to). Have stayed at Park Royal (breakfast is outstanding) and The Melia (which I prefer).
We have also stayed at Sunway Pyramid Towers, which is sensational. The Pyramid shopping centre is excellent and we loved spending the day at Sunway Lagoon.
Takes about an hour to get from the airport to BB, but that is my favourite place to stay in KL.
