Kolokan is absolutely correct and seconded by Mang-Mark (Wednesday posting) in the fact that "Don't use your left hand if you shake hands (left hand used for hygiene by Indonesians, so considered unclean)", or for that matter dont use it to eat, or hand things over either.
Whether u believe it or not is totally up to you, however, when in Rome do as the Romans do and you should seriously consider not offending the locals by using your left hand, if you can help it.
Fine in Kuta, it is probably expected there, however, if you venture further, I would advise any decent human being to give this issue further consideration.
We all acknowledge the fact that Balinese people are very very tolerant of our Western ways, (wheres my beer gone, lost my beeer :((( brb )......dunno cant find it.... better go get another... ahhh that better ok where was I ... so why appear more ignorant or inconsiderate than we have to ?
