to the spell check police - I will not bother anymore - everyone will know what I mean - selamat minum
We were so happy to arrive at the airport - I had printed off our boarding passes and everything seemed to going as planned ..... we were at the airport a little earlier than needed so there was no hassle at all with queues .... a huge sigh of relief - friendly staff and off we go! Emirates is just great to fly with - and of course having all those channels for movies and music makes flying a dream. Hubby nods off very quickly once buckled in (as always) and it's just the girls watching as many movies as we can - main reason to have the hotel for a few hours on our arrival I knew we would be the ones watching the movies and having no sleep at all.
KL airport is totally amazing - and after trying to work out how to get to the Pan Pacific, luggage was dropped off, straight to the pool and then for a quick nap for me, before trying to work out how do we get to the LCCT for Air Asia. We had read about the airports beforehand but just weren't prepared for the sheer size - the LCCT was a bus ride away - hubby was ready to give the driver 60 ringitt but it is was only 6 in total for the 3 of us - woohooo we thought this is great - so cheap.
Thinking that the low cost carrier airport was only going to be a small airport we were certainly surprised at its size and the amount of flights/carriers and people. After asking where did we find Air Asia a few times and a little walking around we found them - checked in and were very happy to be finally on our way to Bali......
Air Asia was fine to fly the 3 hour flight to Bali - no hassle at all - most people had pre ordered meals or snacks - we were ok with our lollies and read to while away the time. Leaving at 3.50pm we knew it would be late when we finally arrived at the hotel in Ubud.
We were through customs easily not along wait at all - not like the old days when everyone would try and get off the plane as quick as we could and race along the tarmac to line up (those were the days). The luggage took a little while to come through but again we were in Bali so not a problem. Everyone always talks about the rush of hot air when you walk out of the airport - but now it is a remainder of their air conditioning before that humidity. The sea of faces with their signs for pick up - looking looking looking - can't see ours.... Hubby getting a bit anxious after 10 mins only, I say, just wait pick up will be here soon. My mobile didn't work but we got Chris's and luckily I had Ubud Bungalows main contact mobile number in easy reach - not a problem we were told, the driver shouldn't be too faraway. Good at least we weren't forgotten - mention to husband go to the toilet while he has a chance before the driver got here. On his return the girls decided to go to the toilet on our way back through the throng of drivers we finally saw our surname on a sign - again yahoooooo - transport!!!! Our driver Wayan told us that the rain had just started earlier during the day - slow but not too bad drive to Ubud - the rain had really settled in and was very heavy by the time we reached the hotel. On arrival we ran under cover - small reception area - and Wayan took our bags to our room and told us to wait for him. We waited and waited - forgot about waiting in Bali - hubby getting a bit frustrated and wanting to go out for dinner - by ten it was around 8pm.... We still waited and the rain kept on coming - nearly 20 minutes later he came back with our key. Wayan said he would show us to our room - 'see this is why I told you to wait - it is a long way!!!!' Not long by our standards - but hey we are in Bali. Really happy with the room - larger than expected and met our needs - we wanted something fairly cheap, clean and right in Monkey Forest Road - what else could we ask for.
First dinner was at Lotus Lane, closest restaurant to us that we knew - have never had a bad meal there - very quiet even in the streets - the rain had really settled in. Of course we chose lumpia, satays and Bintang - wooohooo we are in Bali. As we ran to our room after dinner we were absolutely soaked, the frogs were croaking and we could see little frogs jumping across our path - please frogs stay out of our way - we didn't want any squished frogs.
Hopefully this isn't too boring - but now that I have started - look out!!
