Hi Harry,
The maps you are using on the MIO are probably over 30-35 years old originally drawn up by the Indonesian Mapping Agency BAKOSURTANAL.
Whilst they will "get you around" so to speak they are not accurate nor do they contain up to date data or POI. You will notice major descrepancies when you get out into the countryside away from built up areas.
The Bali Navigator Map is the ONLY digital map that is being constantly upgraded and currently has well over 10,000klms of roads and streets and over 13,000 POI that have been physically mapped by people on the ground . Unfortunately as Baldie says you can only load the Bali Navigator map on Garmin GPS units although other manufacturers are negotiating to use the map.
You can buy a basic Garmin model for under $200 now (even cheaper for a 2nd hand unit off eBay) and the Bali Navigator map will set you back $110. Its a ripper and well worth the money if you are driving yourself around Bali. You can also hire GPS units from 4 agents in Bali.
