Sharing our experiences. I apologise for grammatical, spelling and can't be too bothered with spell check )upper/lowercase etiquette now, but this is what it is and what is't going to be like, so if you aren't into it, don't read any further.
I travelled recently, this sept/oct for 12 days (why did I think that was enough?) with my 8 year old Princess ,10 year old Sensible ,and my 70 year old mum, who I will refer to Nona.
I have travelled 5 times to Bali over a 25 year period. Not as experienced as many others.1st trip a young thing traveling with friends, when Legian was the new undiscovered place to be. Topless on the beach and a little partying, lying on the beach and sunsmart was not an issue then , and to my last trip before this one 11 years ago, on my own, hubby didn't want to go again, but I was determined to get there ‘one more time' before the reality of reproducing our clan. I travelled in between with hubby who didn't get what I did from going to Bali ,. By this stage I was not topless on the beach and Seminyak was green and acres of rice fields. This trip was as a single mother.
Sensible was excited and took in every story I told about my previous travels , (ofcourse I omitted the topless and partying). One thing always remained constant how wonderful were the experiences and Balinese people. Princess unfortunately has grown up with the negatives relating and was a bit dubious. Nona, the matriach and has not traveled afar in her life, due to the early passing of her husband/my father at a very young age, so she's a bit of a worrier...do I need to say more.
So this trip, I had a lot of ‘responsibility' on my shoulders and hoped we and I would experience , what I want to keep on coming back for.
Our journey began .Tickets booked, Garuda, yes we'll have all the trimmings a flight can offer. Accommodation booked, Legian and Jimbaran. I splurged for Jimbaran, justified by first holiday for us in 3 years. On my first trip to Bali, when a friend and I shared a bruschetta for lunch, (because that's what we could afford at Four Season's Hotel) on the beach I swore that I would one day stay in Jimbaran when I had ‘grown up'! We didn't stay at the four Seaons this trip, but came close and more to follow.
Sensible was very excited , Princess was cajoled into 'there's a pool and beach everywhere', and Nona...'It will be fine mum'.
We did all of the medical stuff ,vaccinations etc,(when will the govt. subside? it wasn't in the budget) Princess not too keen with all of that, But it brought reassurance to Nona , I had become a little oblivious to the whole thing , but Nona and doctors gave me a reality check, I'm now a mum and responsible.
