I wouldn't go to Kintimani for the food. I may be wrong but in my experience the restaurants with good views (and the views are sooo spectacular) have aggressive hawkers outside & crappy, expensive buffets inside.
Consider doing a bike ride tour. The price includes stopping off at a coffee & fruit plantation with stunning views, a very basic brekky at a restaurant in Kintamani overlooking the lake & volcano (with info from the tour guide about eruptions etc) then an easy bike ride through back roads with lots of stops for info. Lovely lunch at a Balinese home.
In my experience the majority of restaurants up there do the busloads of daytrippers expensive buffet thing & are not much interested in anyone else.
