I have flown several times to Bali from Melb using Garuda, Virgin Blue or Jetstar. I must say that VB is third on my list after flying with them 2 years ago. I had read about the tv screens in the back of the seat so I didn't bother with books or anything - but we had nothing! The plane was old and there was NO entertainment at all, not even music. People were climbing up the walls by the time we arrived. I thought it may have been a one-off, but same on the way home.
Havng said that - I will always travel the cheapest regardless so I have more money to spend in Bali :)
