Getting away from the Tuban - Seminyak even Canggu now - tourist strip is a must for me. In the past we have always rented self-drive a car - plenty to choose from but DO be sure to test drive it thoroughly first & don't take one with a sun-filter thingy across the windscreen - most irritating.
That said, though, husband (the driver) used a car & driver a few months ago & swears he will never drive in Bali again - just get a driver from place to place & a motorcycle at our destination.
I doubt that you'll have probs finding accommodation for a night on your travels.
Munduk is stunning. Pacung Indah is a great place for a night. David & Moi's lux villas at Lovina might be an option, too.
