Sanur is a wonderful holiday spot with so many restaurants and shops, that you would never get to see it all in one trip. (altho I have tried). Because of the heat, you may find that your 4 year old will slow you down a bit, and long walks to recommended restaurants may be out of the question. Some of our most enjoyable dinners have been on wobbly plastic chairs in the sand, and a basic meal of fried noodles is just as delicious as anything else. Hardys, the big supermarket, will supply you with a ton of western snacks and anything you forget to take. There is a Guardian Pharmacy almost next door to Hardys for emergencys. The Balinese adore kids, but one of my young grandsons actually didnt enjoy all the attention.
Sindhu Markets up the northern end for all the cheap stuff, if you get over bargaining, there are plenty of fixed price stalls.Just look out for the hawkers that try to grab you before you enter the markets. Can get very intimidating, ignore them. Down the main road of Sanur (jalan Tambligan) a great variety of shops.
Dont worry... you will have a wonderful time, let us know how you go when you get back!
