As has happened today, it rained for an hour or two but now the sun is out & will dry up most of the puddles. I have only had one day where the beach end of the lane was a huge puddle & I didn't fancy wading through. The staff at the lobby offered to take me down on the back of a motorbike, but I didn't fancy doing that, so I went the other way out to the main street & walked through the Sanur Beach Hotel next door to get to the beach.
The hotel is about 50m down a lane opposite the Cat & Fiddle restaurant. A further 50 or so metres is the beach. It is single vehicle width and partly asphalted down the middlish. I have seen a photo on trip advisor where the lane is underwater - more a problem in the wet season, I'd say. If it does happen to rain heavily for a prolonged period, you call for a taxi. They are not expensive. All my local taxi trips have been under 12,000rp. I don't think you need to worry, even with kids.
There are a few street lamps on at night & there are lights along the wall of the hotel. I haven't needed to use a torch so far. Only takes a few minutes to walk.
Hope this helps. Sorry if I alarmed you.
