As much as we have tried to find what the official cost of duty is on alcohol, we have had little success. When we went to Bali in June, I had 8 bottles of wine in my luggage, and declared it. (we were there for 6 weeks). When we got thru to customs, they looked at our card, and the young man said, the excess would cost us US$50. My husband said as politely as possible, I think thats a bit too much, how about au$20, which he accepted. So thats about au$4 for each bottle extra. My Aussie Sav blanc was only about $12 a bottle on special at home, and I was paying rp250-300 thousand in Bali eventually. Have the cash ready,(2x au$10, you may only have to pay the $10 tho) your champas is probably worth it!!!
