we stayed in Sanur for the first time in Dec/Jan & there were a couple of stand-out restaurants from the many good ones we visited that I can recommend:

Kokoya (Japanese)
Jln. Danau Tamblingan 178
Phone: 289252
It is on the main drag next to an American style diner (the name of which escapes me but you can't miss it - it has very "loud" exterior decor!).

After a long, hot walk the aircon cold towels upon arrival are very welcome. Awesome food, the fresh sushi & gyoza (dumplings) were so delicious we returned for lunch twice more after our first visit. Very quiet during the day but you need to book for dinner.

Beach Cafe at Sindhu beach
the directions I was given by a helpful forumite were:

"Catch a taxi to the end of Jln Pantai Sindhu, turn right & the Beach Cafe is a short walk along the beachfront, if you reach Bonsai cafe you have come too far"

The steak here is the best I have had over my 7 trips to Bali & the dessert tasting plate is to die for. Be sure to sit at the tables on the sand & take some beach toys to keep your little ones occupied while you wait/eat/drink.

Enjoy!
