Hi all, back sunday after 18 glorious days in paradise! How i hate coming home and being back at work with no holiday to look forward to!
This time, stayed at GRAND KUMALA- after reading many comments against this resort, we were pleasantly surprised. It is a quiet place,no loud tourists, few children, simple, balinese style- nice gardens, adequate pools- no swim up bar or anything like that, but suited us. We had a president suite which consisted of 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and large sitting area, as well as balcony. A short 4 minute walk down the laneway and we were on the beach. Great to catch up with ozzie, dickie, and all the regulars.
EATING- did all the usual- but my absolute favourites would be 1- NIRVANA in seminyak and 2- yutz in legian. Nirvana is aussie owned- fabulous service, delicious menu and great price- we went twice and loved it. Yutz is a favourite for staek. Also did mozerella, gosha, all the beachfront usuals.
Spent 3 nights on lembongan island at LEMBONGAN REEF BUMGALOWS- this island is a must for a 2-3 night getaway from the hustle and bustle. L.R.B. is in a good location, fab views of the ocean, nice pool, good rooms, nice restaurant on the sea. All the ones mentiones on here are very close- ware ware, playgrounds, coconuts,ect-all next to eachother on the cliff. We hired motor bikes, and even a 47 yr old 1st timer like me could do it! Only scraping a wall with my arm once! It was great fun riding around enjoying the beautiful scenery this place has. We ate at a wonderful place called scallywags- its aussie owned and new- fabulous food and they pick you up, but service very slow- once they get experienced it will be great. We had a lovely meal and staff very nice- overlooking the ocean Also, a must for a drink or a few hours to enjoy- dream beach villas- superb views of sea with magnificent infifnity pool! My 3 teenagers had had enough after 3 nights, but a very pleasant gataway. The scoot boat was quick 30 minte trip for $50 return.
Apart from that, basically chilled on the beach, which was my goal this holiday- i alweays run around too much, but this time, i chilled! Took some newbies who absolutely loved it!!!!! Also, ended up going to orphanage in ampulura with my 60 kg of stuff- the kids are delightful and its worth the journey to see the smiles on their faces! Special purchases- canvas bean bag chair and lounge covers for outdoors and more of those glorious lanterns!
Thanks all for the help and info- until next tme- regards, helen
ps- will tell a special story about my son tomorrow
