Gotta love retail therapy..... :0)
Did a fair bit of shopping but came home with more money than usual....its all good!!!!!!
Only bought 2 handbags where I would normally buy about 5 or 6 but still had some from last year that are still in really good condition so if a handbag didnt "talk" to me, I didnt buy it...lmao. Have had quite a few compliments on them since coming home :0)Gotta love handbags!!!!
Same with shoes......only bought three pairs (which seriously doesnt even rate on the shoes shopping scale normally) but I had gone through my shoes not long before our holiday and still had a couple of pairs still in their plastic bags so decided I wouldnt just buy for the hell of it.
Homewares............... did the whole Biarritz, Geneva, Unagi thingy... most things are the same each year but their is always something a bit different and always great for Chrissy and Birthday pressies. Bought a couple of 60cm garden statues (cost about $35- fixed price) Also came across a great shop on Legian Street (between Bintang Supermarket and Padma Street) and they had a 50% off sale.....lovely stuff, basically silver sculpture ornaments sort of things but also had some smaller bits and pieces. Went there twice and the hardest thing as what to buy as a pressies as I would have loved to have bought everything I saw, but hey......where do you put things after buying in Bali for so many years...lol.
Beads..............Normally do at least two full days just doing bead shopping but I still had a lot still left from last years shopping so decided to be a bit more selective. Went to Toko Central like usual, had a few new style sorts of beads but mainly concentrated on focal beads instead of the fillers as I call them. Came across a great one on Legian Street called Big Ben......bought a few bits one day and ended up going back and decided to get a few other bits and pieces on another day. Went to go into a couple from last year but one was totally gone and the other was so rundown from last year that when I went into it, didnt have anything new at all so was very disappointed.
Found a couple of new ones along Legian Street but found them to be hugely overpriced compared to what I have bought before.
Did the usual market shopping such as handbags, clothes etc. Didnt buy alot of clothes either as I have whacked on a bit of weight in the last couple of months so decided that I was going to do the whole diet thingy when I get back home so I didnt get too carried away.
Bought a couple of what I called the "Adult bond suits" and could have just lived in them all the time.....you now the ones.....shirred in the chest area then either 3/4 length or full length to the ankles with a bit of elastc....LOVE EM!!!! I now own four or five of them and can see me wearing them heaps for the next year...lol
Jewellery......I LOVE silver jewellery..I have never been a gold wearer as my skin turns yellow gold black in about a week but doesnt seem to affect silver soooooooooooooo I bought a few rings etc.
Shopped at such shops as Nadyia Silver (between Bemo Corner and Kuta Square) Bought a couple of rings from there....a bit pricey but lovely designs. Kings Silver (in same stretch of street as above) Was a bit disappointed as they didnt seem to have anything overly different. Bought 1 ring from here.
Silverberry (on Legian Street)Lovely lovely stuff in here....bought a gorgeous ring that has not been off my finger since I bought it...really gorgeous pieces in here and way different to things in the other shops.
Bintang Silver (on same street as Flying Piano heading from flying Piano to Legian Street)had a good look in this one and yep I bought another ring from here...lol
Bought the usual watches etc too as I love watches as much as my handbags and shoes. Ended up buying about 10 all up...Also bought a couple of those Power Balance bracelets (dont know if they actually work but hey...its sure worth a try :0) As well as a couple of those harmony balls...LOVE the faint little tinkle they make when you wear them and I always think of Bali whenever I wear them.
Went up to Ubud Markets and had a sticky beak up there. Bought some Vanilla Pods (for me) and Cinnamon Bark for hubby to stir into his coffee. By the way, had no problems with getting them through Customs at Sydney Airport. Declared them and was told that they are fine to bring back. Had a look at the lower section of the markets where they sell friut and veg....really interesting seeing all the different things that they have for sale that we just dont get here in Oz. Love talking to the stall holders and finding out what they do with everything and how they cook with them..
Bought a headress and necklace thingy that dancers wear and had a giggle with the stall holder as she did her little dance for me (love the Balinese)She hardly knew any English but got her point across anyway. Ubud Markets is like shopping no where else in Bali.
Photos to Canvas.....upstairs on level 3 in Hardys in Sanur. Ended up getting about 15 printed up and the lovely girl delivered these to us the next morning to our hotel. Great for presents for family and friends and as I love taking photos of flowers , they look awesome when you get them printed on canvas. Now ust to get hubby to make frames for them so we can put them up :0)
Well cant think of anything else to write about as far as shopping goes....The hardest part is waiting for anyting we decided to freight back home to reach us. ormally takes about a month (two weeks down, two weeks to go)Its seriouslyy like Christmas when you finally get it all.
Bali is just soooooooooooooo great for shopping and especially love it a few months or years down the track when you look at something you have bought and remember the laughs and smiles normally done while buying that particular item......sure beats shopping at Kmart or Big W any day..
Well I think I have bored people enough with my recent memories of ur latest Bali trip and am already looking forward to the next one. Roll on August/September 2011.
