I agree with other posters. It is polite to arrange the visit rather than just appear, but your hotel or driver will be thrilled to recommend a school. Some of the schools in east bali away from the tourist areas are very poorly equipped . There is no need to pack anything, it is best to go to Hardy's or a stationer's and buy pencils and books for the children. Sometimes a gift of money is very welcome. It may be used to buy equipment, or to support some needy children who may not be attending school.You will be overwhelmed by the friendliness and dedication of the teachers you meet, who by American and Australian standards are not well paid, but believe totally in what they do.
