Chrstmas and New Year

Newbie on the site. Staying at the Grand Istana Rama Christmas and New Year. Are there any special places to be and see during this time? Am taking first time overseas travellers with me. Went to Bali longa time ago. Any advice and help would be truly appreciated. Am keeping a travel folder - but need to know what I am missing?
