Guide book information can become very quickly outdated. Bali is busy. High and low seasons aren't so different in tourist numbers as they were in the past, probably due to the very cheap airfares these days.
If you're expecting to just arrive and find half empty hotels ready to drop their prices to get you in, you may well be disappointed. This has been easy to do in the past and many cheaper lesser known places may still have vacancies, but most hotels have actually increased prices - because they can.
I'd suggest you send out some emails very soon to check hotel availabilities. You may be surprised at how wrong the guidebooks are on this one at the moment.
