I dont know if there are any rules that you need to follow to visit a school but just ask any of the locals where the nearest school is and go and see them and see what they need. Most supplies can be bought in Bali at very cheap prices. You mentioned airline is strict with weight allowance if you have already packed go and unpack and only take clothes for about 3 days and buy everything else there. Getting laundry done is really cheap and it will leave you more room for shopping to take home. Hope you enjoy your trip any other questions just ask.
