a few weeks before flying. I had read somewhere that she would not be able to fly in case her arm swelled during the flight. I contacted the airlines we were travelling with and they didn't have an issue with her flying with it on (plaster cast).
I also asked the hospital and apparantly if the flight causes swelling you can request them to cut the cast off.
For some reason my daughter was unable to have a fiberlass or waterproof cast so I purchased a waterproof "sock" which covered the arm allowing for swimming upto 30 minutes.
My daughter suffered no swelling or discomfort on the flight.
