Hi, I did it last year and loved it- was great to see a different side of Bali with the lush greenery, waterfall etc. I'd say if the child can swim properly they would be right to go- it's not too rough at all but they MUST be able to swim unaided.
There are lots of stops and starts where you have to get in and out of the tubes and at one point you have to go on a flying fox to get to the next stage of the tubing.
The stops and starts are annoying but a a part of it. All in all not a bad day out- there is a steep walk down into the canyon to begin which looks like it could get very slippery so take care!
