We visited before that book came out and and when most of his visitors were Balinese people.
There is no doubt in our minds he is a skilled healer
During our visit he spent most of his time treating my husband for a back problem. He also took the time to tell us about traditional medicines, how he came to be a Balian, his life as a Balian.
He offered to read our hands before we left but it was a 5 second reading that he and we treated as a joke.
There was never ever any mention of money. Our donation was concealed inside an offering basket that we bought at the market and placed next to him. The amount was left up to the donor and Ketut Liyer didn't know what it contained until after we left. That's the way it was for every visitor.
I always wondered if he was still healing since the book came out, and am very sad to read he is not. It is a loss to his community, and to others who are genuinely seeking his help.
