Third Week
Having trouble posting so have split into 2 sections!
The next day was spent relaxing by the pool! Had lunch at Sammy restaurant on JL Padma Utara and then ended up there again for dinner as the food was delicious and well priced - although had dessert in the Balinese hut at Kusnadi for a bit of fun later. Final run of the DVD shop and for bags to use as hand luggage before back to the hotel for our last sleep!
Took the kids to McDonalds for something a bit different on the last morning - our driver took us to the 'suburbs' and we caused quite a stir arriving at McDonalds! Driver told us they probably did not get a lot of tourists at that particular one and so we were a bit of a side show for the first ½ hour! Kids had a ball and apart from the chocolate topping on the sundae, things tasted pretty close to what we expect (gross!).
Went to the beach for a final relax - hired some chairs again (Rp 50,000) we always paid the same amount and it was for however long we were there. Spent a few hours there then moved back to the hotel pool to chat with other guests before changing and heading off for last dinner - then goodbyes to our new friends and off to the airport!
After waiting around for a while due to Virgin desk not being open, we checked in 8kg overweight (we had 100kg in total and still went over!) although that did include a large framed painting. After originally discussing how we would pay, the girl whispered that there was no need and she wouldn't charge! Very happy! Had a long walk around trying to find a lounge to spend the next few hours in - finally found Prada Lounge and paid Rp 300,000 for the 5 of us. Except for the fact that there is only 1 female toilet cubicle for the entire lounge area, was pretty happy that we had somewhere contained to sit and the kids could sit on the couches and watch TV for a bit!
Boarded the plane on time - was FULL without one spare seat and FULL of kids! Put at the back of the place with all the other families. My kids all went to sleep before takeoff and stayed this way until about 40 mins out of Adelaide. Husband and I have difficulty sleeping on planes and the Virgin seats do not recline back a great deal (and with a little kids legs or head on my lap getting comfortable is difficult!) but its not a long flight so can bare it!
Arrive in Adelaide a little earlier than expected, baggage took a while and was soaking wet by the time we received it (luckily we had taken the advice of a security guard in Denpasar who suggested we get the painting plastic wrapped). Quarantine/customs line moved quickly. We were last in line and had a lot of items to declare! The drums we bought were held back due to the inadequate tanning process Bali use and we agreed to pay the $60 to have 1 large, 1 medium and 1 hand drum treated and sent directly to us. Got to keep everything else and then head out to the pouring rain and under 10 degree weather!
The countdown starts for our return straight away when we get home after husband books flights for February 2011.......not long to wait!
