We've stayed in Sanur with our family for the last 4 years and are back again in September. Anywhere along the beach would be great on New Years. Our favourite restaurants are Kayu Manis, Beach Cafe, Bonsai (for the cold Bintang), Kesuma's, Massimo's, Charming. Hardy's supermarket is good for anything you need - the DVD place in there usually supplies good DVD's and you can return any that don't work. There is a Circle K across the road from Hardy's that has a good money changer - avoid any small places in shops with too-good-to-be-true exchange rates.
