You will need a converter adapter for your electrical appliances that you take with you. The adapters used in Indonesia - Bali have only two "round prongs" which plug into the wall. You can buy the adapters very cheap in Bali and they are sold everywhere so you won't have any problem buying them...(Unless of course you want to buy in Australia before you go).
Drivers - No need to book before you arrive in Bali. You can get a driver easily on any given day whenever you need one. Just hire a driver for a full day or half day.
If your only needing short trips from A-B (eg, hotel to shops) taxi's are cheap and everywhere! Bluebird taxi's are highly recommended..they are the light blue taxis and they have metres.(Although almost all taxi's have metres in them you just need to make sure they are turned on when you get in).
Many of the forumites can reccommend their favourite drivers to you if you ask and then you can take a few phone numbers of the drivers with you and just give them a call when your in Bali the day before you need them....Otherwise you will find regular drivers outside large popular hotels who are readily avaiable at a daily rate.
