I know that generally, agents do a good job, but with the internet the way it is, and cheap easy access to flights and accommodation, many people don't see a need for agents any more.
Perhaps with more complicated itineraries in strange places, people will still need guidance, but for Bali it seems to be the norm to D.I.Y.
Good to see that you got a result, and this one can go in the file with the Indojet fiasco as 100 reasons to choose your travel agent very carefully....if at all.
