see I asked cozziecan the same thing. We normally go direct from Brissy but are in Sydney for a wedding so leaving Monday. Apparentle yes baggage goes direct and they give you a voucher to use for transfer to the international airport. other than that I know there are taxis and the airtrain that go there as well!!
