Hi, 2 weeks this trip, Me, Mr beemay and honeybee who turned 21 on the day we left to come home again.

we left home the day before as we live 5 hours from sydney and stayed at formula1 st peters and caught a cab to airport.
Pacific Blue 10.55am flight. it's a bit like going to Bali on a bus, not very comfortable and Mr Beemays back was screaming by the end of the flight. flight uneventful and we arrived a half hour early.
we had booked vip with worldsafarisbali and probably not needed as being early we seemed to be between flights and it didnt seem as chokkas as last time.
we were to look for a person with a sign with our name on it once we got off the bus to the terminal, no sign, but we looked confused so they found us anyway. out in 10 minutes into the sea of faces and name cards. Again we were to find a card with our name on it and pay for the vip service........not being able to hold 2 things in my head at once, i saw a card with our name and off we went....with the hotel driver. I completely forgot about the vip until a knock on the hotel door about 8pm that night........sooooo embarrassed and gave them the extra rp they asked for to cover petrol.
This service was $23.50 US plus the $25 Us VOA

we stayed the whole 2 weeks at LumbungSari in Legian. Its a small quiet hotel, one of the older ones, needs the rooms refurbished but we didn't care. our requirememts were comfy bed, clean, airconditioned with a pool and to house all 3 of us on a budget. LumbungSari met all of these. we did have intermittent hot water during the day and the foods not the best but the staff are lovely and I enjoyed it here just as much as the all seasons which is brand new.I will definately stay again.

places we ate
GOODeys, love this place, the food is great and reasonably priced.

warung kartini, in three brothers lane, doesn't look much, but the food is yummy and its cheaper than chip sandwiches at home!

JeJe's ..had a nice chicken curry here, love their banana pancakes and a take away milkshake in a plastic bag is a hoot.good value for money and nice staff. wish they would bring back the music,to get the place busy again.
ThreeBrothers- didn't really enjoy the food there, and not good value for money, small portions of ordinary food really.

BaliBagus- very nice lumpia

IBUOKA.. well I can say I've done it.I found it too spicy to taste the pork really, but sitting on the floor was a novelty. thing is after eating here, a few hours later hubby got sick, really really sick, vomiting, temp, runs etc. we both ate here, luck of the draw? its the only place out of the ordinary that we ate at,only one with out a "proper" kitchen and food out in the open up until that time. luckily we had some of those new specific for travellers belly antibiotics with us and he recovered in about 2 days.

BEACHSHACK?-ECHO BEACH. Canguu, its lovely out there, pretty scenery on the way.
we ate the tables just above the beach, shame we had cloud cover as the sunset would have been gorgeous.was still pretty the little bit we had. The food was ok, nothing spectacular, honeybee and i had aussie steak, cooked to our liking , it was tender ,salads were nice. mr beemay had seafood platter, calamari was like rubber bands but the fish was lovely. there were 7 of us and with main meals and drinks it was 650.000 rp
coming back you need to use their transport which is a set rate, it was 100,000rp back to legian.........funnily enough a faster trip back than getting there which cost us 85,000 after we got lost twice lol
would we go there again? it wasn't bad but we'd try somewhere different just for the change.

PIZZAhut CENTRO....so different to australia. we all really enjoyed the meal here and went back for takeaway lol pastas are scrummy, pizzas are very different esp the choice of crusts...i had one with chicken sticks, tasted better than it sounds. they also make nice mocktails and fruit smoothies.

BREADtALK.....who was it recomended the little bread and butter puddings??? i think i owe you about 2kilos hahahaha i think we had one of everything here ...except for the really weird combinations lol

JC donuts........why oh why do we not have these in australia instead of donut king???? so light so fluffy, like fairy floss with icing lol i won't tell you how many i bought :O

BAL DELi- well we bought the makings of a meal here lol bread, fillings, very expensive place this. cost me about $6 aus for 1 litre of aus milk! meadowlea was about the same so i bought french butter( we didn't like the local butter at the hotel)

nightlife:
Legends, went with some friends, this is a good fun night, band is good lots of fun.

Bali Beach Shack- went to the "girl" show, lots of fun, only stayed for the first half and didnt get a chance to have our photos taken with the girls...next time

Oceanblue: went for the band, not really a fan of blues and it was way too loud,so you couldnt talk and we got held hostage by the rain.

Things we noticed:
you can a get a cab down to the bottom of jn 66 to legian beach for those restraunts BUT try to get one back!!!! there are several there waiting all the time and they refuse to put the meter on and want anything from 50-100k to get you back to legian. we just walk till we find a blubird or jump straight into one where u see someone getting out or just hoof it. its only a long way when its hot lol

it rains when its not the rainy season lol

there is no vegemite in bali.......trust me, we looked!!!bintang supermarket do have it "on order"

Things we bought:
prior to leaving we had kadek our driver organise a suitcase sized nude coffee table to be carved from a photo. the knees and the top of her head are to hold up the glass top. It turned out absolutely beautiful and all we had to do was finish it off with bootpolish, which is apparantly how they finish the carvings, giving it a lovely sheen and brings out the grain. anyhoo bought the largest suitcase ive ever seen for 400,000rp good quality and the same price as the cheapy one i bought from the reject shop here in aus. bubble wrapped the carving and it survived the plane trip. unfortunately between checking it in at central railway and arriving at our station it must have been dropped by railway staff as a foot and an arm broke off. luckily it was a clean break and hubby as pinned and glued it. it has lots of grain so only noticeble if you know its there. Paid 2 million rp for the carving. travel insurer has said they may cover it and to put in a claim.

we gave two drivers a turn, kadek redata and wayan ardiarsa, both great drivers, good english, new a/c vans etc.

we had two paintings done from photographs by Rizal Art studio. this guy is so talented, one was a large one of me and mr beemay behind a pool table. and the other was smaller portrait of my eldest daughter and her girlfriend. brilliant work and he made us slightly slimmer and mr beemay a little more and darker hair LOL for the larger one was 1.4 mill rp and the smaller one 700,000rp. I could not have afforded to have this done in australia.

also had two bedcovers made by bali best bedcovers.thanks trishc for putting me in touch with jeff and his team of painters/artists.
as they both were portraits they cost 700,000 each. they are not doona covers but actual quilts, which wieghed 8kg,and put us over for luggage,so theyve been posted.

used elgi for many dvd's which we ordered before leaving home, also bought many more at some of the many dvd shops.

also found another service: Balimovee Rekuest which has any movie you've ever had a hankering to revisit. we got buster and billie, an old jan micheal vincent movie, some ma and pa kettle(don't laugh i love pa kettle) and some james dean movies. he gaurantees quality and he replaced one for us that had a skip in it. they are 50,000rp each or 40,000each for 5 or more. bargain he brings them out to your hotel.

honeybee had a leather jacket made from her own design 900,000k she did well bartering from nearly 3 million down. i can never remember the name of this shop, it starts with J, juli something like that, its in the little lane opposite posers pub between Mickeys dress shop and Jeenas spa. great workmanship, lovely soft leather. 2nd coat weve had done here.

nails, massage, facial all at Jeena's.
thsi was my first massage ever, not jsut in bali. when she got up on the bed and started on my back, her touch was so firm i though she was walking on my back!!!!

tattoos
again we used Agung from Goerat tattoo. he comes out to the room, all very professional, new needles opened in front of you. agung is an artist as well as tattooist. he has a gentle touch and we've been extremely happy with his work. price is $80au an hour,so no haggling,if only part of the hour, unlike asutralia,he only charges that part of the hour.its so much more comfortable to be in your room with the air conditioning and not be gawked at by passers by.
mr beemay had a western style dragon with a nublile young woman under it,this was to cover up an old tattoo that had faded. still needs a little work on background to completely coverthe old one.
honeybee had a portrait of a goddess on her upper arm, quite big but lovely. me I had a floral spray on my hip.

i want to go back now lol
