We stayed at The Courtyard in Feb/March this year & had no complaints. The staff are great, & the majority of guests are definitely not gay.
Very quiet & clean hotel, probably most suited to couples, with no kids staying there while we were there.
Only downside for us was that it wasn't on the beach, which is what we are used to, but no big deal. There are plenty of restaurants nearby for meals. There is a great money changer (more of a bank), just up the road heading towards Legian st, on the opposite side of the road to the Courtyard, with green metal bars/gates out the front.
We would stay there again. Have a great holiday.
