Hi Everyone
Just a quick trip this time. My (I really have lost count) 14th maybe 15th trip, and my partners 2nd.
We left Perth on the 4.50am flight...not as bad as I expected and quite liked the idea of being in Bali for breakfast. Flight was on time but arrived at the same time as a flight from Russia, so all in all took us an hour to get to the other side and on our way to the hotel...not too bad at all. With regards to the taxi...we were charged 150000 rupiah to Canngu (fine), but when they noticed we had a surf board we were charged an extra 50 000, but still went in the usual type taxi, had to smile.
This was our first time staying in Canngu, and loved it, booked into the Keraton Legong Hotel which was wonderful. We chose Canngu because this time we were holidaying without the kids and were looking forward to just relaxing. Our days were mainly filled up with surfing, reading, swimming and the odd walk along the beach...my 14 year old son said it sounded 'hell boring', but wow, it was bliss.
The Legong is only a small 40 room hotel right on the beach. Our room was right by the pool which was right by a lawned area right by the beach....Perfect.
Went into Kuta one day for the obligatory DVD shopping, the kids had compiled no less than 4 pages of must have movies, and also picked up a few other bits and pieces, but after a couple of hours in the chaos that I used to love, we were both ready to get back to our hotel for a quiet drink. Must be getting old.
The weather was also not what i had experienced before, it was very mild in comparison to other trips, obviously still warm, but not as humid as normal.
We ate mainly at the hotel as there isn't a lot around, and because its just so convenient when you're just so busy relaxing, we did however try the restaraunt just next door, which was also good and a little cheaper. Apart from that its very isolated. Echo beach is about a 40min walk north (which we walked but didn't stay) and we found a really nice 'Juice Bar' about 20mins south right on the beach.
So in summary, we loved this trip, Canngu is lovely even if the water was a little soupy. Perfect for that relaxing inexpensive break. Will be going back to Bali again as soon as possible, but this time with the kids so probably not back to the Keraton, the kids both like the buzz of Legian. But if its ever just the 2 of us again, will definately be back at this hotel.
