I have just returned from my first trip to bali. If you are anything at all like me, you will be pretty much surprised by the traffic and the way it all flows. I suppose it depends on what you are going to do how far you are going to go. I believe that you do need an international licence. Other more experienced forumites will have better advice for you. My advice is to wait till you get there, see what you think, but have alternate options as well, such as some phone numbers for some drivers.
