Had a wonderful 5 weeks in Bali. Arrived on a Jetstar flight out of Sydney and was glad we had arranged with Murti VOA. Declared cheese, bacon, extra wine etc..no problems
Stayed at Villa Rahasia 1 in Legian. This is a 2 bedroom villa with its own private pool just in a Gang off Jl Sahadewa. So close to the beach and shopping and restaurants. Definately will stay there again.
Went and got a Simpati card.reception ok using cheap 01017 prefix..so cheap
Rate was hovering around 8000rp while we were there which was good. The money changer that I usually use while there said I had to have my passport to change australian dollars. I said I am not going to bring my passport out every time I want money so I went to the Bank in Jl Sriwijaya and you didnt need passport so I dont know what she was going on about...anyway
We noticed that eating out and alcohol has crept up and we spent more than last time (Feb/Mar 2010)
We ate at:-
MOZARELLA- Great food and great entertainment on Saturday nights with the band. Be warned this restaurant is packed every night so book if you want a meal there. Wine Corkage is 65,000rp
LEMONGRASS IN SEMINYAK- Nothing to rave over... service very very slow and was not that busy.wine corkage 39,000rp
PEARL- Delicious!..but not cheap...I am still thinking about the Cream Brulee..wow. Wine corkage 100,000rp
LANAI'S SEMINYAK- Only went there for lunches. Very nice meals and atmosphere. Wine corkage 50,000rp
BLUE OCEAN SEMINYAK- Went here for a few dinners. Very nice meals especially the Spicy Indonesian Meatballs..yummo!!. Wine corkage 39,000rp
UN'S KUTA- An old favourite...still just as good and lovely atmosphere...Gnocchi with Gonzola cheese to die for...and those frozen Margarita's are great...
MANNEKIPIS SEMINYAK- Had several meals here. All meals fantastic. We always opted to sit upstairs which got a nice breeze.....Corkage 100,000rp
MYKONOS GREEK RESTAURANT- Had a couple of lunches here... Wonderful Gyros here. There red wine here fine
WARUNG MURAH JL 66- Good and cheap. we always go here at least twice during our Bali holiday.
WARUNG ITALIA- JL Kunti- Good food and cheap. They have extended this restaurant to include a huge and I mean huge pizza oven and seating for this. The largest pizza is humungus!!!! it was as round as the tables that you sit at...we got takeaway pizza's and took them back to a friends villa...was quite a wait as they are very very busy but worth it...
TOMMY'S- cornbeef and salad rolls very tasty..BUT...the wait was so so long...was wondering if it was worth it???
BALI DELI- Jl Kunti..OPENS 8am daily.. Brought Waggu Rump here to take to a friends place for a BBQ..OMG how tender and cheap was this!!! Make sure if you like Lemon Meringue pies that you dont leave without buying one...so yummy...
BALI BAKERY- opens 8am daily..Peddled my pushbike every 2nd day and got a fresh bagette.. It is very popular for meals as every time I went there it had alot of people sitting down eating...cakes look delicious and pies were great but not very hot...
Restaurants that I would of liked to eat at but never got around to was Queen Tandoor, Feyloon Chinese restaurant, Ultimo's..oh well there is always next time.
We went on the Bali Baik pushbike tour..FANTASTIC!!!! Well worth the $50 which included breakfast at Kintamani, Bike tour (really good bikes and disc brakes) and buffet lunch at their home at the end which was very well done..a long day picked up at 7am not back to hotel till 6pm
Had thought about getting a proper motor bike license while in Bali this time but in the first week saw so many accidents with bikes that I decided it was not worth it (I do not ride at home) will stick to my pushbike!
Went to the Ripcurl factory outlet in Jalan Dewi Sri. Not much there when I went but just before I left it had a 80%off sale and I forgot to go back.. also the Bypass rd Billabong factory outlet I noticed a 80% off sale too....
JEWELLERY- B DESIGN Jalan 66..I got this from the BTF not long ago. They are on RHS coming from Jl Legian about 10 shops down run by an Aussie. Earring really cheap and had some great jewellery. Will definately be going back there again next trip.
LEATHER BAGS- 2-3-4 shop Jalan Sahadewa. I got a D&G bag copied in leather.. Turned out great.
Half way thru our Bali trip we went to Singapore for 2 nights. We flew Jetstar and was suppose to depart at 2.15pm...Crew got sick and they had to get staff from Darwin so we had an 8 hour delay and instead of arriving in Singapore at 4.45pm we arrived at 2.30am so was a bit disappointed that we had missed that afternoon and evening.Oh well you get that!!Jurong Bird Park was great..must of cost them millions to build.. also went to Chinatown to browse have a few beers in the bars and to eat.. great time had also next day went to little India to the Mustufa Centre..huge then walked the streets till we found markets and had a browse...all in all a great time had will go back there definately..we stayed in the red light district..It is not unlike Bali and very cheap compared to the city centre's accomodation. I think we paid $45aud a night...
ULAWATU- Had a whole day here. I couldn't believe the changes since last time I was there..a new fancy bar in the corner of the cliff..and all new shops for the sellers and a new toilet that you have to pay 5000rp use...Had a fantastic Nasi Goreng there at one of the Warungs and a few Bali Coffee's. I dont like sugar in my coffee but they put condensed milk in and it was delicious!
KETUTS- Jl Sahadewa- Always pay her a visit. So so busy but she never seems to get with the times with alot of the new stuff...eg all the new style dresses. She has been getting in a heap of bags to sell. I had alot of orders for big women's clothes (18 to 24) but she did not have much in the way of stock which was a shame.
Met back up with a few friends that we made on previous visits which was great.
Oh I wish I was back there already...roll on February 2011.
