In the South of Sanur on Jalan Danau Poso. It's Padang food and you point to what you want. It is extremely clean and the food is really really good.
In Legian we feel the best Indonesian food around is at Cafe Jadi opposite Kumala Hotel (Not Kumala Pantai!) on Jln. Werkudara not far from the intersection with Jln 66. The cook and owner is from Kalimantan and that is the influence for her cooking. I always warn people that if they want fast food this is not for them as she prepares everything from scratch, fresh. However her beer is cold and you can BYO wine while you people watch and the wait really is worth it.
I suppose Jadi is a little more touristy but still not to be missed.
