These little mini grills were really designed for cooking satays but I'm sure they're adaptable. Those we used at the cafe in Kuta were terracotta, but the ones I found are white glazed ceramic. Fairly chunky. They are about 25cm long, 12cm wide, shaped like a pipe lying on its side with the top half cut off, circular ends and 4 little legs. Two thin metal rods run end to end to support the satays and hot coals were burning in the base of the pipe.
Each weighs about the same as a litre glass bottle of gin. ;-) And they're not exactly fragile. I bought three, figuring one between two people at a table. They went in my suitcase in bubblewrap and I was still just under my allowance.
Ubud Ceramics have two outlets in Ubud (duh!) but I don't know about elsewhere. One is on Jl Dewi Sita on the north side towards the Jl Hanoman end. The other is on Jl MF on the left hand side going down, about half way, opposite Cafe Dian. They're "fixed price" but will do discounts. The asking price was Rp 200,000 but I got three for Rp420,000.
