disconnected from the beach, in that it doesn't have a beachy/resort feel to the hotel at all. My husband is a beach fanatic & always wants to be as close as possible but he wasn't fazed by the short (less than 5 min) stroll. You are asking the wrong person about nightlife (we had our 3yo daughter with us), there certainly isn't the same nightlife as around Kuta, Seminyak etc that much I do know!
There are bars with live music etc but I don't think much stays open beyond midnight.
