Based on current exchange rates, the price of the VOA should be $A29.17. So they should take your $A30 and give you Rp 6,500 in change. Sometimes,they have to be "encouraged" to give the correct change, by asking for a receipt.
I normally pay for the VOA with $A. The exchange rates that the VOA people use is the same as the airport money changers.
But the rates offered by the airport money changers are generally Rp 200 worse than the Kodak money changers in Kuta.
