Air Asia Indonesia announced last year, that they wanted to fly from Darwin to Bali, but then nothing happened.
Technically, the Airbus A320 as used by Air Asia Indonesia could make it to Darwin easily.
My guess is that Air Asia Indonesia is concerned about the passenger numbers and Darwin Airport charges.
