too many singapore slings and blue lagoons at the Kuta Beach Club, donkar rides home to the Kartika Plaza along dark, bumpy unmade laneways .. our bungalow next to the beach, guards sitting on your chairs on the verandah outside when the power went down frequently, daily supplied thermos with boiling water you had to wait to cool to drink, no double beds, accidently treading on offerings on the ground as newbies, making purchases with rupiah and your lipsticks, balinese wanting to trade your beachtowel for a carved chess set ... and first experience of bb!
