Hi all at SBV thanks for a great stay.
Got back yesterday after 3 weeks. Arrived on the 9 June after 1 and a half hours at immigration grrr. People in 'the shed' so went to say hi, We were invited out for dinner had half an hour to get a shower. Then realised we had not changed money and did not have enough on us. No worries they said and promptly gave us 400000 so we went to Ducks Nutz. Turned out more people met there and ended up about 16. Left there and caught a taxi where I promptly jammed my fingers in the car door someone headed over to Nutz for ice and held that for an hour or so. No damage I have thin fingers and not a very good seal on door thank goodness. Great start to hols.
Next day changed money and got bearings of area as have not stayed down that end for years. Payed money back. That night no one felt like moving from 'the shed' so got delivery for all.
Had 'trots' next day but just took Lomotil and thought nothing of it WRONG
Two days later still got them but carried on. Hired a car and driver with great couple we met. He took us to a great silver place at Celuk, amazing jewellery could have spent a fortune but was good because I had forgotten to take my credit card out of the safe. Next to Kintamani and some photos. We then went to find Tegallalang Road( I think) where all the wholesale shops are oh my god shoppers heaven and the prices. It is kilometres of shops you name it you should be able to get it. No bartering as it is wholesale and usually only one offs. I got an amazing lamp for 70000 and the carvings are so cheap. One person a few days before got 3 each of zebras, giraffes and elephants small medium and large for 290000 the lot. I also priced the mosaic plates and a set of 3 was 80000 but the weight put me off. Next lunch at Kafe Kampung looking over the rice fields. Great meal and view even if I did have soup. Off to markets in Ubud as had to get more bedspreads for a friend then back home. That night I bit on something and chipped a tooth, this holiday is not going well. Managed to get to the dentist at Galleria, not impressed. He did not remove my part denture and did the filling so when I removed it that night it caught and ended up with a piece missing on the other side of tooth. Only small so I will wait until I get home.
Next day we walked along the beach and some of the girls did shopping as they were leaving next day. Had a 'pity party' at the Nutz. Still not well.
Another day out with our friendly couple to Seminyak ( nice shops) and then on to Tanah Lot where us 2 girls had our photo with a huge snake wrapped around us. Tanah Lot is still a pretty place as they have kept markets etc away a bit. On to Ubud markets as M has decided she wants bedspreads. Lunch at another great restaraunt where I had a great Nasi Goreng. Back Home.
Next morning went and saw Ron as this is now the 5th day of 'trots' He takes me a doctor not far who checks bloodpressure temp etc and gives me antibiotics, other tabs and electrolite powder. 4 hours later I am a new women. Our friendly couple have left but plenty of newbies are moving in. This was a very different type of hol as we usually stay in hotels with a lot of europeans just seems to be the ones we pick. At Ron's all the guests get on and have a great time, some want to stick to themselves but that is up to them. Real mixed bag as there are families, youngies and oldies, I suppose I have to class myself and other half in that even if I do not feel it.
Am now feeling well so we go over to Kuta for the day. Now I know why I do not stay there, building work, dug up roads, traffic chaos. Legian was a little saner and even Tuban the traffic is mad. was glad to get back to Sanur. Next few days are spent just pottering around Sanur and at the pool. The last week the other half got a cold and this ended up as a chest infection. Went to the ripoff merchants (Gaurdian Chemist)and bought antibiotics and cough medicine. Four days later no better so went to Doctor and got everything needed for half the price including fee. I have learnt from this trip it is cheaper to go to the doctor than try to self medicate at the chemist unless the one near Hardy's is just really expensive. There seems to be a lot of colds and coughing around and another person we met had a chest infection as well. Went to lots of different restaraunts around Sanur and also Alise's at Tamukami the other end of Sanur as this is really nice. This is where we stayed 2 years ago but the room price has nearly tripled. As we have been to Bali many times we have done most of the trips and the other half being sick ( which he has now given to me) for the last week sort of slowed things down as well. But a great holiday was had by both of us. Caught Pacific Blue at 20 past midnight to Brisbane and then a 3 hour drive south to Northern NSW, not good with no proper sleep. But we made it.
Thanks for reading and I hope I did not drivel too much.
