I had my eyes tested in Perth & took my prescription. I had a look around Optik Seis & Melawi in both Bali Mall Galleria & Centro - quoted Rp2.25million (plus extra for tinting) for multifocal lenses epr pair of glasses. I already had frames for sunnies & needed frames for clear lenses.

I phoned Mr Honeyman (08174714740) & he came to the hotel punctually. Although he has a large range of frames there were none I liked (I don't like the small rectangular frames although he has plenty of other styles - I am just fussy) so I bought a pair of Hugo Boss on sale from Bali Mall Galleria for about Rp 900K & dropped them off at the moneychanger near Bintang.

Mr Honeyman charged Rp 1 million per pair for my multifocal lenses (no extra for tinting) - less than half price of the optical shops. I was (and still am) VERY pleased with my new glasses. The sunnies were ready within a few days but the clear lenses took longer as the frames are larger. He went to a lot of trouble to get them to me before I had to leave. Mr Honeyman is a pleasure to deal with. The moneychanger at Bintang Supermarket always knows where he is. Best to phone - his English is good.

The prices in the optical shops seem to have increased hugely. I'll only ever use Mr Honeyman in future - although I was sceptical it was a pleasant experience & easy peasy, not to mention saving a few hundred dollars on Bali prices, let alone Aust prices.
