Taken me a while to find the time to post this, here goes to anyone wanting to read.
Spent the first 5 days at Nusa Dua Beach Hotel.3rd time visit, cant fault this Hotel especially where it is situated.Didnt do alot but relax and eat. Walked to the mall one day and had the fish spa. Dont know that alot of nibbling went on more like alot of sucking. Would i do this again, probably not but it was alot of fun. It has been 2 years since we have stayed on this side of the island and was so pleased to say that tourism has improved ten fold and the malls shops were all occupied and doing good trade. We ate at Mengiat street one night and were really dissappointed to see that so many little warungs have closed down, not alot of choice, eating there now always eatwhen we are in the area at Bumbu Bali. However on this particular night the main restaurant was overbooked and was offered the Bumbu Bali 2 for a reservation. Was told that it was basicially the same as the original, same staff, food etc, so decided to give it a go. What a dissappointment. Ambience is nothing like the original restaurant, felt the food was second rate and when paying nearly 1mill for rystifal? x 2 and a couple of cocktails well totally overpriced. Wouldnt bother with them again as there are so many nicer places popping up now.
Just a note if super friendly squirrels turn you off, then Nusa Dua Beach Hotel isnt the place for you. Couldnt believe the number of them this year.Cheeky little blighters were helping themselves to food out of bags left unattended poolside and were even sitting on the bottles - top shelf - at poolbar. Many would be eating out of your hands.
From here we left for 10 days at KP Legian. Were supposed to have 2 room changes while there but managed to get away with just one on the last couple of nights. Hadnt been here since the new rooms opened, have to say you wouldnt even know the otherside existed, only that breakfast was busier, but just the same, still a good value for money hotel.
Ate at a few oldies and a few newies.Mozzerella really nice, only thing that wasnt pleasent was the humidity level this year was high, and restaurants that done have air con are hard to bear. Couldnt stay long, turnover thisnight was very quick, shame, the band they had playing were so good. Hubby had the best steak ever and price was good. One place that we had never tried before was TJ's. Having dropped some dresses to be copied at Janako Tailors we settled in for a few drinks which then led onto a really great dinner. Dont know why we hadnt ever been before. Definately will again. Apart from these two restaurants we tended to dine at local warungs this time round. Food excellent and sooo cheap. Did dine at Tekor twice as close by and good value for money.Nasi Campur excellent.
Mentioned Janako Tailors in Poppies Lane.Gave her two dresses and a work skirt to be copied.Took my own material and were ready to be picked up 4 days later. Good quality job done fitted perfectly. Cost was really reasonable all up NZ$30.
Had a couple of pictures put onto canvas at Matahari for 30,000 each. Great price and good quality.
Couple of visits to the fairy shop for our granddaughter. I love this shop. So did she when we got home.
As mentioned in an earlier post the main reason for this visit was to get dental work done - have already posted about this - so wont go into that again, and just to relax. In the past our holidays have been always so hectic, and this time the only day trip we made was to the safari park. Highly reccommend this to anyone who loves animals. My photo cuddling the baby orangatan is priceless and equally so the look on my husbands face cuddling the not so baby tiger. They really have done themselves proud with this facility. Great day out for families.
In all we had yet another great couple of weeks away the only downside is dont know if we will stay in legian again as we found it to be so busy this year.Ive never seen so many umberellas and chairs on the beach, it was like grand central station at times. And at sundown the beach turned into nothing more than a swill bar. God im going to get flack about that comment im sure. I know each to their own, but adults getting really boozed with young kids running around, to me just isnt right. I am really no prude. So will possibly look a little further upbeach next time.
Flew Pacific Blue, have to say flights were fine, only hiccup was while in transit at Melbourne airport, the staff forgot that there was half a plane load standing behind a locked door that took them 15mins to unlock and made us miss our duty free shopping and coffee which only gave us 5 mins to board our flight to NZ.
why is it that when the tan washes off it feels like you havnt had a holiday. So its back to work to save for next years visit and more money to be spent at Dr. Rudys.
