Easiest way to work out how much material you need is to go to Spotlight or a material shop that sells patterns(I dont know what state you live in but I am in NSW and we have a shop called Spotlight which sells heaps of material and patterns)
If you have a look thru the patterns and find something similar that you want made and check out how much material would be needed making sure you read the back of the pattern and find amount needed for the width of the material that you are buying.
