if you are fully aware that if you drive a motor bike in Bali with out a license or International driving permit that is endorsed for you to ride a motorbike - that you know if anything goes wrong that you are not covered by your travel insurance. It seems that some people don't know this.If you are from WA & ride a motorbike under a certain cc at home without a motor bike licence, please be aware that the laws in your state have no bearing on the laws in Indonesia.Sorry but the WA law/ruling does not entitle you to get a International driving permit to ride a motorbike in Bali.Unfortunately your travel insurance would still not cover you.

I think that this matter is somewhat more important than a fine you may have to pay if pulled over.I understand that you may feel differently but in my opinion you may be better off paying between 10,000 -30,000 for your average taxi ride around the place.
Regarding your specific question it can be far cheaper in the long run paying a cheap taxi far versus having an accident & losing your life savings or that of your family on medical bills.
Regarding your specific question - as a bule, your chances of being pulled over are pretty high just because of the colour of your since regardless of how carefully your drive. The amount of the fine depends on the person who pulls you over & how much they think they can get from you.
Over the years we have been pulled over countless times & even with a full license, driving properly & wearing helmets we have sometimes still been asked for a donation for the Policeman's ball.
