I have only been 3 times to Bali, last 2 trips we stayed part of the time at Sanur, I could easily go and stay only at Sanur and make the odd trip over to Kuta and Legian. Clovis is correct the restaurants are great and I still have many on my list to work through.
I think it depends where in Sanur you stay, we have stayed at the Besakih a few times and the location is fantastic, close to everything and central in Sanur with a nice beachfront and very layed back atmosphere.
