Stolen or lost cash is gone forever.

My husband has spent 2-3 months in Indonesia for years & has a special debit account with only what he thinks he'll nedd in it & which I can top up from home when necessary.

In May I took a Commonwealth Bank Travel Money Card which was good. It lasts for 3 years & can be topped up at any time for a small fee. You get 2 cards with different PIN #s in case one is stolen. $2 fee per transaction (forget what it cost to set up but not much) & at ATMs you hit the Credit button so you are covered just as if it is a credit card. C'wlth Bank ATMs are everywhere once you look for them.

I take some cash for convenience & credit cards for emergencies only. In the past I have used TCs but I will always mainly use the Travel Money Card in future.
